Our Projects.
The goals are based on the principle's laid out in the Yemi Getachew Foundation Mission. These projects have been chosen to address the many goals that Yemi has inspired.

Each one of the projects has been carefully chosen from recommendations of people Yemi knew personally and we have reached out to each one of them to get as much detailed information about their organization, mission and specific goals they would be able to accomplish from the resources that YGF would provide.
Project 1:

Tesfa Addis Parents Childhood Cancer Organization (TAPCCO) is a Non-profit Organization (NPO) established by parents of children with cancer and individuals interested in helping children with cancer and their families in December 5, 2012 under Charities and Societies proclamation No. 621/2009 and re-registered under proclamation 1113/2019 in May 16, 2019 Ethiopian Resident Charity License No. 2920.

TAPCCO proposed to use the resources provided by YGF to distribute much needed medicine to their children cancer patients. You can read their proposal here.

Because of their transparency and willingness to provide a project proposal, YGF has funded this proposal providing US $10,000.00 (ETB 529,325.00). The TAPCCO team was able to use the resources and begin supplying needy children with cancer with the medicines they require as well as assisting with the required blood work to monitor the overall health and efficacy of the medications provided. They have provided the initial reporting of recipients.

New UPDATE : Photos of the renovated ward and dedication ceremony

Because of the success with the initial project and because TAPCCO has been a great partner on the ground helping YGF make a marked difference, the YGF team requested a second proposal from TAPCCO to have a lasting and meaningful impact on the patient and supporting families.
The TAPCCO team identified the renovation of the Tikur Anbesa Children Cancer Ward as a necessary and worthy project which needs immediate attention. Because of the lack of proper sanitation and overall unsafe conditions, spread of infection could take place. This proposal was recognized by the YGF team as a project very much what Yemi would support and it aligns with the mission of YGF in several ways as it is helping both the children cancer patients and their families.
An additional bonus is that Tikur Anbesa is in the teaching hospital that Professor Getachew Bolodia, Yemi and Daniel's distinguished father taught. Yemi's family is also contributing 50% of the requested donation and YGF has agreed to donate $20,000.00 (ETB 1,062,758.00).

The Ethiopia Education Initiatives, Inc. (EEI) and its flagship project, the Haile Manas Academy (HMA) have been selected as YGF Educational partner. HMA is an institution located in Debre Birhan, Ethiopia. It's a vision of Rebecca Haile who wanted to create a school that excelled in providing a world class education to the brightest students in Ethiopia. By creating an institution that can have students that can excel in all aspects of society and represent their families and their home country in all their future endeavors. You can read the great introduction and proposal that the YGF received.
On a personal note, Dr. Getachew Haile was one of the greatest thinkers, leaders and a premier expert in the religion, history and culture of Ethiopia. He was also a very close friend of the family, and someone Yemi immensely admired. We are deeply honored to be associated with Ethiopia Education Initiatives, Inc. (EEI) and HMA.

YGF funded Ethiopia Education Initiatives, Inc. (EEI) $10,000.00 to be used as scholarship to sponsor students who do not have the economic means to attend the school and will continue to provide assistance to the mission of the school.
